This year’s nationals took place on 27th March at Temple Newsam Park, Leeds. With heavy snow having fallen during the week leading up to the nationals and poor conditions forecast for the weekend a strong Cornish team arrived in Leeds.
The ground was perfectly suited to our athletes who produced some outstanding performances that climaxed with an English vest for the talented Truro School Inter Boy Harris Mier. Harris finished 8th in his race that secured his place to represent England in the SIAB, then the following week Harris was part of the team to bring the England home in first place.
Other notable placings at Leeds were:
JG Maisy Luke 13th
IB Bradley Stevens 51st
SG Katie Hughes 18th, Imogen Wood 30th.
And finally SB Finn Birnie 9th, Sam Goodchild 33rd, Aidan Kent 56th, all senior boys finished in the top 200, and the team came 10th out of 45 teams. Excellent performances all round.
